We are currently looking for a Corporate HSE Advisor – West/Central Canada to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for actively promoting and driving our health, safety, and environmental culture throughout the Western/Central Region. As the resource expert, he/she will serve as the primary contact for all matters related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) across the region and collaborates and partners with key stakeholders at each site.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Health, Safety, and Environment Management: Maintain and create comprehensive Sun Gro HSE Management System documents, encompassing policies, procedures, work instructions, and training plans, tailored to the region's needs. Collaborate with the Corporate HSE Manager to identify potential health, safety, and environmental hazards, driving process improvements and necessary training initiatives for hazard reduction as well as the development of corporate safety programs.
Site Support: Assist facility Supervisors and Managers in effectively implementing HSE system requirements, ensuring consistent adherence across operations.
Communication, Training and Development: Help with the development of HSE training and for facility staff, fostering awareness and competence and ensure the completion of all Sun Gro HSE training programs. Deliver comprehensive HSE training to SunGro employees, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and internal training mandates. Prepare and deliver Safety talks and training materials for all departments, aligning with Corporate HSE (e.g., monthly safety talks, bi-weekly production safety talks).
Audits and Compliance: Conduct internal audits in collaboration with each site within the region to ensure compliance and readiness. Assist in preparing sites for external audits, such as the Certification of Recognition (COR).
Committee Participation: Participate in regional Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings as required, contributing to safety initiatives and discussions.
Reporting and Analysis: Generate monthly reports detailing HSE system status, First Aid incidents, accidents/incidents, and JHSC activities.
Worker's Compensation and Return-to-Work: Collaborate with HR to manage worker's compensation and return-to-work programs, offering guidance to supervisors and managers, and maintaining comprehensive case records.
Safety Action Plans and Analysis: Support the implementation of Corporate HSE safety action plans and business strategies, contributing to the improvement of safety culture. Assist management in conducting root cause analysis (RCA) investigations to enhance incident understanding and prevention.
Safety Data and Training: Assist in monitoring Safety Data Platform entries made by different locations and help manage and escalate incident submissions.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;
You have at least five (5) years of relevant experience in a MANUFACTURING environment with a community college diploma as well as recognized formal training in one of Health and Safety, or Environmental studies. An essential pre-requisite for this role is that you currently have or in the process of attaining a preferred HSE Professional Designation (CRSP, CSP). Having excellent computer skills is also a necessary expertise required.
You have good comprehension of health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, guidelines, and industry best practices and possess good communication and effective interpersonal skills to interact with production employees, supervisors, management, and governing authorities.
You have the ability to initiate positive change in health and safety throughout your designated region which consists of : Seba Beach, Vilna, & AB Bogs; plus Elma, Vassar & MB Bogs. This is a plant/location based position. In this role, you must travel to these regions up to 50% of the time.
