Role: Forklift Operator

Job Summary:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely loading and unloading products into and out of various trucks and trailers using a forklift. The role includes completing shipping and receiving paperwork, checking shipments in and out, performing monthly inventory counts, handling case goods, and maintaining a clean and organized yard. The position also requires daily forklift inspections, adherence to all safety procedures, and completion of additional duties assigned by management or team leaders.


Job Responsibilities

• Read and interpret bills of lading and load logs
• Load and unload the correct product into trucks and trailers
• Complete all required paperwork accurately, including matching purchase orders and receiving documents, and placing paperwork in designated locations
• Apply required trailer safety devices (wheel chocks, safety chains, loading plates, etc.)
• Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with truck drivers and office personnel
• Keep the yard clean, safe, and organized
• Operate the forklift safely at all times and complete daily forklift inspections
• Perform monthly inventory counts and handle case goods as required
• Perform additional duties assigned by management or team leaders


Qualifications

• Fluent in verbal and written English
• Ability to follow direction and specific instructions
• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of forklift operations and safe material handling practices
• Ability to safely perform lifting up to 70 lbs on a routine basis
• Comfortable with standing, walking, and operating equipment for extended periods
• Ability to safely operate equipment in varying weather and yard conditions
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Positive, team-oriented attitude and dependable work ethic
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check
